Budding in spring Imstenraderbos Black Gold
Tower Pancratiuskerk is not the highest point of Heerlen. No, that honor belongs to the beautiful Imstenraderbos. Just behind the industrial Chisel, this slope forest at 197 meters above sea level. A visit in this period is wonderful, the budding spring unfolds before your eyes.
Natuurmonumenten claims it is Imstenraderbos "South Limburg in the small". ecostar A correct summary, both literally and figuratively. The forest is a relatively small area. Because the paths cross and cross walking through the forest, it seems to look bigger than it is. The effect of English gardens, is also used. The enormous height of seventy feet between the entrance to the woods behind the crematorium and the point in Benzenrade also causes a feeling of space. ecostar
Halfway through the forest on a sign which explains the geological composition of the soil under your feet - relics from the last ice age. Formerly flowed the river Meuse, now forms the base of the slope, the source of the Yellow Brook. Flowing direction Terworm and joins forty kilometers away (!) Along with the river. ecostar
In the heart of the forest are graceful beech. On their silvery ecostar trunks has his or her declaration of love many people trying to perpetuate. The crowns reach high into the sky, a contrast with the slope which rolls down directly behind the trees group and immediately back up slopes down behind Benzenrade. Some beech are as impressive as their roots grow as fat sausages silver above ground. If you walk around here you come along idyllic ponds with magical vistas between the holly.
Grow on the edges of the forest thin young trees between some perky old oaks with gnarled branches. ecostar Our feathered friends have a good shelter in the forest. Just behind the crematorium hangs a huge bird box. Unfortunately, your reporter knows about birds less than about trees. Cozy twittering sounds though.
The Imstenraderbos belongs Landscape Imstenrade. It is a hidden small nature reserve on the edge of town. Even though you hear the occasional highway rage on in the background, it is very worthwhile just to squeeze out a half hours apart and make. Stroll through the Imstenraderbos
